Gomoa Rural Bank to run weekend services

Apam, April 10, GNA - The Gomoa Rural Bank at Apam has completed arrangements to run weekend services for customers especially those who residing outside the town.

Mr Francis Tandoh, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors told the He said the weekend service would prevent the bank's customers working the area from carrying large sums of money on them as a result of the activities of highway robbers.

Mr Tandoh expressed regret that the Gomoa District Assembly did not consider the bank for disbursement of the poverty reduction fund. That not withstanding the Bank on its own had granted 261 million cedis to 523 people in groups to help them to reduce poverty who were using the loans judiciously.

Mr Tandoh said the bank was focusing on women in its poverty reduction programme because they catered for the home and stated that arrangements had been made to assist vocational and technical institute trainees in the area to establish their own ventures. He said that they would either be provided with working capital or tools, adding that, the bank would negotiate with National Board For Small Scale Industries and GRATIS to produce tools for those who would opt for them.
