THE Government will soon provide about 400,000 more telephone lines to help support the growth of Information Technology (IT) in the country.
In addition, it will harmonise the entire communication system in the country to ensure that there is free flow of information among business concerns. The Minister of Communications and Technology, Mr Felix Owusu-Adjapong, announced this in a speech read on his behalf at the official launch of Fit Directory and Website at a ceremony in Accra.
The newly launched Fit Business Directory is the CD version of all contact details of businesses in the country.
Mr Owusu-Adjapong said the government is also doing its best to tap the knowledge of the experts in tele-communications to ensure that IT entities will find their work easier for the benefit of the public and private sectors.
Mr Eli Abromovich, Managing Director of Fit Edition Ghana producers of the business directory, said it is the vision of the company to create and promote business within the context of the Golden Age of Business.
He said the introduction of the CD version of the directory has come to solve the problem where only those with access to the Internet could log onto the Website and access information for their businesses.
"With the increase in trade among nations we have to do our best to enhance the connection between sellers and buyers" he stressed.
He added that it is the hope of the company to become the preferred arena of all businesses through the promotion of connections between each other.
In a speech read on his behalf, a Deputy Minister of Trade and Industries Mr Abu- Bakar Saddique Boniface observed that the frontiers of trade is now extended through the Internet, and expressed the hope that the introduction of the business directory will be one of the innovative and effective means of promoting and advertising businesses.
