Government creates electronic platform for business transaction

Accra, Aug. 3, GNA - Government on Tuesday rolled-out a common electronic platform to promote open access to information, increase transparency and flexibility for transacting business with state agencies.

The electronic platform seeks to provide standards to guide the deployment of networks among Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) for easy information sharing and exchange within the public service.

The platform focuses on interconnectivity, data integration, e-services access and content management to serve as the cornerstones for deploying an effective and efficient network to facilitate electronic collaboration, promote open access to information and increase transparency.

Launching the two platforms - Government Enterprise Architecture (GGEA) and the electronic Government Interoperability Framework (eGIF) documents in Accra, Mr Gideon Quarcoo, the Deputy Minister of Communications, said the government was constructing the e-network infrastructure for effective service delivery.

He said the government was committed to creating conducive environment to promote e-governance through the deployment of a nation-wide dedicated telecommunications network to all districts in the country and also connect public institutions to a single shared communications and computing infrastructure.

Mr Quarcoo said the network would be linked to a national data centre to ensure that all data were backed-up for research purposes and information access dissemination.

He called on MDAs and all other public institutions to develop and deploy their information technology solutions and projects based on the GGEA and to comply with all standards as captured in the e-GIF platform.
