Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has averred that government has not paid the allowances of trainee nurses for the past 30 months.

According to him, some of these trainee nurses have graduated from school without receiving their due allowances.

Speaking to some trainee nurses on Saturday, August 10, 2024, the flagbearer of the NDC said his party will create job opportunities for them if elected President in the upcoming general elections.

He stressed that the NDC is committed to job creation to help curb the high unemployment rate in the country.

“Come and pay the nurses you owe them almost 30 months of arrears...Some of them have left school without receiving their allowances and some of them are going to leave school again without receiving their allowances,” Mahama told government.

Mahama assured the trainee nurses that, “it is about jobs and NDC is committed to jobs and so we are going to create the situation where we can employ as many of you as possible.”

He urged government to as a matter of urgency settle the arrears owed these trainee nurses.
