Madam Mimi Amy Payne, Chief Executive Officer of New Community Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, has appealed to the government to undertake comprehensive solar energy projects to complement electricity.
She said the country was blessed with much sunshine and therefore there was the need to take advantage of it to generate alternative power supply to minimize the outages.
Madam Payne told the GNA in an interview that the erratic electricity supply should not be blamed on cell phones and governments.
“This is the time in the 21st century for us to take action now when we have sunshine in abundance in Ghana. There is no need for us to cry loud over light offs,” she said.
Mad Payne said there should be a policy that would compel public establishments to turn off their electrical gadgets after close of work and at the weekends to save energy.
