Government has assured managers of Goldstar Air, the new Ghanaian airline, that it will partner it to make its dream of airlifting passengers from Ghana to various destinations across the globe a reality.

Cecilia Dapaah, Aviation Minister made the disclosure while opening the company’s modern office complex recently at Ashaley Botwe, near Accra.

She said Goldstar Air’s activities fit into government’s aviation development agenda, adding that government would stop at nothing to see the airline’s aircraft fly to and from various destinations across the world.

“I wish to assure management of Goldstar Air that government will give them the necessary support. The doors of Aviation Ministry are opened to assist in whichever way to ensure your growth in the aviation industry.”

She said the “coming into operation of Goldstar Air will open up and break up monopolies of other airlines in the region, creating numerous travelling opportunities for public with lower and competitive fares on various routes of the airline.”

She therefore urged management of the new airline to ensure it never disappoints government and Ghanaian travelers when it starts its operations.

Chief Executive of Goldstar Air, Eric Bannerman, said the airline was bent on promoting Ghana as a tourist destination for all its foreign passengers.

“Considering how ready we are to fly the spirit of Ghana to the world, adequate provisions have been made to meet the flying needs of our passengers. This allows them to carry three bags of 23kg each as the normal allowance of two bags of the same weight,” the CEO disclosed.

He stated that should everything go as planned, the airline would begin flying this summer.

Mr Bannerman urged the airline’s prospective passengers, clients and the general public to massively patronize the new Ghanaian airline.

The airline, according to its plan, intends to fly from Accra-Baltimore (Washington) – Accra, Accra-Gatwick (London) Accra, Accra Guangzhou (China) – Accra, Dubai and to many other African countries.

To further deepen its Ghanaian identity, the airline has stated it will make announcements in the local language alongside the English language to its passengers aboard Goldstar Aircraft while an array of Ghanaian menu would be on offer.
