The Greater Accra Regional Shipper Committee has organised an interactive session dubbed “have a toast with a colleague over the budget” to create an opportunity for informal discussion on the 2017 budget, particularly the area that bother on shipping.

The shipper committee is made up of players in the maritime industry who meet regularly to resolve issues affecting shippers and traders in the country.

The event was used by an officer of the customs division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Owusu Gyimah to educate members of the committee on a number of the tax exemptions in the budget statement presented by the Minister of Finance to Parliament.

According to him, government has indicated that exemptions constitute a major area of leakage in revenue mobilisation.
