Guinness Ghana dismisses cash prize messages

Guinness Ghana Limited, has urged the public to dismiss what it describes as fraudulent text messages being circulated in the public domain about cash prizes purported to be coming from the company.

“The attention of the management of Guinness Ghana Breweries Ltd (GGBL) has been brought to text messages in circulation purported to have been issued by GGBL informing the recipients that they have won various sums of money as part of GGBL’s annual anniversary,” the company said.

Preba Green street, Corporate Relations Director who said this in a statement issued in Accra copied to Ghana News Agency on Wednesday said: “We state emphatically that the messages in circulation are fraudulent and should be completely disregarded by recipients and the… public.”

The statement said GGBL is presently not running a national consumer promotion on any of its brands.

“All brand and consumer promotions run by GGBL are widely publicised with clear modalities for participation which never include the provision of banking details or any monetary payments from promotion beneficiaries in order to claim their prize,” it said.

The statement said: “We want to assure our cherished consumers and the…public that we take such issues very seriously and that the matter is being investigated by our security team in collaboration with the security services.”
