HFC Bank supports girls' education in the north

Wiaga (U/E), May 21, GNA - The HFC Bank has supported five brilliant but needy girls who excel at their BECE last year with GH¢2,000 to support them in senior high school. Each of the girls received GH¢400 from the bank and this is the seco= nd of such donations the HFC bank has made to brilliant but needy girls from th= e northern part of the country.

Mr. Glenn Bakari, Northern Regional Credit and Relationship Officer, presented the cheque to the girls at Wiaga in the Upper East Region. It was on the theme; "Equal rights, equal opportunities: progress for all". Eleven other girls also receive scholarships from different organizations. Mr. Bakari said the donation forms part of the company's corporate soc= ial responsibility to the society as well as the need to encourage students t= o continue giving out their best to improve the human resource base of the country. The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Builsa Mr. Nobert Awulley, commended the HFC bank for the presentation and urged the award winners t= o make good use of the awards. Mrs. Veronica Jackson, GES Project Co-coordinator, said the collaboration with development organizations had improved the enrolment a= nd retention of pupils particularly girls.
