The Marketing Manager of Huawei Ghana, David Anku has advised Corporate Ghana to harness the immense benefits of technology but however cautioned against over reliance on it.

He disclosed this at a corporate interaction with the Ring Road branch of Rotary Club International, at Alisa hotel in Accra. He spoke under the theme “How Technology Can Make Your Professional Life Possible”

In his presentation, Mr. Anku shared with the Rotarians how technology can boost their professional, family and personal lives. He said “technology has come to make life easier, convenient and more productive.” In his opening statement, he referred to the clutter of an old fashioned office space as against a modern computerized office space which organizes all kinds of tasks for professionals.

In an age where access to information is critical to businesses, he encouraged the Rotarians to take advantage of technological innovations such as CloudOn, Google Drive and Dropbox which are computer applications used to create and share documents within and outside the working environment. He added that technology allows for information sharing, virtual meetings and conferencing which are key to corporate growth.

“The mobility associated with technology allows one to multi-task with ease. You can access news on-the-go, shop online or even work from any location with just a touch of the screen or click of a button. All you need is a good internet connection”. Mr. Anku said.

He introduced Rotarians to the Internet of Things, an emerging concept in technology. According to Mr. Anku, the Internet of Things revolves around increased machine-to-machine communication. He cited an example that in the Internet of Things, a phone could be programmed to remotely control lighting, air conditioning, security devices in homes or offices from any location to improve convenience, comfort, energy efficiency and security.

He added that as a company, Huawei is dedicated to ensuring better connected lives through the use of modern technologies and devices that are tailor made to give users maximum productivity while complimenting lives.

However, he was quick to add that technology should serve human purposes and not enslave people. “I must say that technology is not a replacement for human interaction. When used responsibly, technology can help balance our lives. Therefore let’s exercise self-control and discipline in the use of technology.” He said.

There was an opportunity for Rotarians to ask questions after the presentation after which they were introduced to Huawei range of devices on display in the foyer of the hotel.
