Stanbic Bank has appealed to its customers to handle less cash in the wake of the outbreak of the coronavirus in Ghana.
The bank in a message asked customers to rely heavily on their ATM cards as well as the other electronic channels to transact banking businesses.
The message said: “Dear Valued Customer, In view of the COVID-19 outbreak, please avoid crowded areas, handle less cash and frequently wash your hands with soap and running water.
“Use your cards and our digital channels 24/7. #StaySafe”
Ghana has recorded her first two cases of coronavirus. The cases were confirmed on Thursday, 12 March 2020.
They were brought in by two people who had returned to Ghana from Norway and Turkey. The cases were confirmed by the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research.
Health Minister Dr Kweku Agyemang-Manu, who broke the news at an emergency press conference on Thursday night, said the two patients have been quarantined and are stable.
