Hippo group boss honoured

Business tycoon Dr. Kofi Sarpong, CEO of the Hippo Group of Companies, is the proud recipient of the 2013 Honorary Ambassador of Business Entrepreneur in West Africa award, which was conferred on him by Peristrofi World Honorary International.

Dr. Sarpong, who owns a chain of businesses across the West African sub-region, was given the top award for his invaluable contribution towards the rapid and effective development of the country.

The same institution also conferred on Dr. Sarpong, a ‘Doctor of Social Services’ award for his constant and timely contribution to the development of the needy in society including orphans and widows among others.

This year’s award ceremony was under the theme, ‘Yes We Can Era in Africa.’ It was held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Monday.

In a citation read by Dr. Divine Gabriel Brefo, President of Peristrofi Masters Theology International, centered on Dr. Sarpong’s role in the creation of jobs for the populace through his chain of businesses, especially in Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire, and his benevolence which had helped brought life and hope to the needy in society.

Briefing newsmen after his award, Dr. Sarpong, who started business trading in candy said he was extremely touched by the honour done him, promising to sustain his exemplary lifestyle so as to enable more needy persons to benefit from his good works.

Dr. Sarpong, a staunch Christian, who is widely known for his benevolence, has single-handedly built an 800 capacity church auditorium for the CAC. He also set aside 10 percent of his capital to develop God’s work.

The Hippo boss has as well established a scholarship fund to assist brilliant but needy students.
