Many people in recent times are leveraging technology, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI), to aid their work.

While many fear AI will take over their jobs, others have spotted opportunities that will be beneficial to them and their businesses.

At the workplace, Human Resource practitioners have been urged to keep up with technological trends by applying AI in their work — recruiting, resourcing, attraction, among others—to be more efficient.

Global HR Director of BBC News, Irene Asare, while speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Global Conference on Human Resources in Africa (GCHRA), said it was important for HR professionals to think about the future of work and how employees can best enjoy the working environment.

She said, “As HR practitioners, to begin with, we really need to get our heads around what’s happening at the moment."

"What I would say to us as HR practitioners and professionals is that we really have to think about the future of work, what that will mean, what the experiences will be for employees, and how do we prepare for that,” Irene Asare added.

The Global HR Director of BBC News further said, “For practitioners, we’ve also got to think about the future of work. How do we use AI to enhance that experience, how do we use AI to be a bit more efficient."

The Global Conference on Human Resources in Africa, which took place from October 24 to October 25, 2024, at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.

The theme for the event is, “A Global Discourse on Exploring the Emergence and Dynamics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Human Resource Technologies in Africa.”
