The only Ghanaian who owns shares in the Barari DV lithium concession, Ben Nunoo Mensah, has stated that he was surprised when Barari DV Lithium wasn’t listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange, but instead, Atlantic Lithium was.

According to him, unlike Barari DV Lithium, Atlantic Lithium is not a registered entity, so it came as a shock to him when he heard the news.

“I am still trying to get answers from Iron Rage Atlantic, how it has metamorphosed into Atlantic Lithium which is the name that we all hear but my arrangement and my MoU or my agreement or my share transfer or my shareholding arrangement was with Iron Rage Resources. You hardly hear about Barari DV, the indigenous name of the concession. That is also something that I’m still asking for answers,” he told Daniel Oduro on GhanaWeb TV’s The Lowdown.

“I heard not too long ago Atlantic Lithium being listed on the stock exchange and it came as a surprise to me because Atlantic Lithium is not a registered entity in Ghana; it is Barari DV which is a registered entity,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ben Nunoo Mensah, who has a 10% stake in the Barari DV lithium concession, is urging a revision of the country's mining laws arguing that the current mining laws do not serve the interests of Ghanaians and require urgent reform.

He also highlighted the poor conditions in communities where gold and other minerals are mined, despite the wealth generated from these resources.

"Ghanaians must benefit from the resources that God has blessed us with, rather than being exploited by foreigners," he stated.

"If you look at our mining towns like Tarkwa, Iduapriem, and Obuasi, it’s clear we need to speak out about what's wrong and why we aren't benefiting," he told Daniel Oduro in the interview.
