'If NPP had won, market would have boomed' - Kumasi traders bemoan low Christmas sales

Traders in the Central Business District of the Ashanti Regional Capital, Kumasi, have bemoaned its low sales as the Christmas festivities approach.

According to them, this is due to the loss of the New Patriotic Party, of which the Ashanti region is a stronghold.

They said if the NPP had won, things would have been different.

Traders who are into the sale of Christmas accessories like toys, hats, spectacles, and fireworks are recording dwindling profits ahead of the holidays.

“Before the elections, the market was good. But now, you barely can break even. If the elections had gone in favour of the NPP, the market would have boomed,” Joy, a trader at Adum, was quoted by myjoyonline.com.

Despite the slowdown of economic activities, some people have noted that it is important to celebrate during the holidays.

“We must celebrate because God has been good. I will really enjoy this Christmas. We will be chewing chicken and visiting the mall,” Adwubi, who was buying some Christmas accessories for her children, said.
