Exton Cubic Group Limited has dared the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to prove that the permit granted to the former has been revoked.
Spokesperson for Exton Cubic Group Ltd, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi said the prospecting permit was granted by the Minister of Land and Resources upon the recommendation of the Minerals Commission of Ghana.
Speaking with Winston Amoah host of Sunrise Morning Show on 3FM 92.7, he said Exton all the requisite documentations and licencing were procured for its prospecting activities.
“When you get the prospecting permit, you need the environmental permit from EPA and a forest entry permit if the site is located at the forest, and we have received the appropriate documentations from all the various agencies. So if we don’t have them, what are they revoking?” he asked.
Contrary to the position of Exton Cubic Limited, the Executive Director of Environmental Protection Agency, Peter Abum Sarkodie indicated that EPA is not halting the operations of Exton Cubic Group Ltd but enlightening the public on what they can do in respect of mining or any of such activity.
“We have given them an exploration permit and not a prospecting permit. Exton Cubic Group Ltd should understand that there are a lot of conditions attached to the exploration permit and the exploration permit was issued out in 2016 which expires after one year but they are lucky to have two years and if they are talking about mining, then they are not permitted to do so.” Mr. Sarkodie explained.
