Inflation Drops To 16.6%

A strong indicator that the economy may have started its rebound from the recent shocks of petroleum price deregulated was yesterday reflected in the Consumer Price Index result released by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) for the month of April.

The result showed that inflation had dipped from the 16.7% recorded for the month of March to a current 16.6%.

The CPI report showed that the Annual National Index for food in April 2005 was 356.20 which when compared to that of April 2004 (347.64), showed a change or a yearly (12months) inflation of 16.7%. That of March 2005 was 17.3%, a decline of 0.6%.
