Takoradi, Sept. 27, GNA - The Ghana Shippers' Council has completed a state-of-the-art information centre that would assist shippers in the Western Region to access business information and communicate with their local as well as foreign partners.
The multi-million cedis facility would enhance efficiency within the sector and promote competitiveness and also access to markets. Nana Agyekum Gyamerah, Public Relations Manager in a release said the facility was the first of such projects to be established at the Council's shippers' Centres in Tema and Boankra, near Kumasi.
The Takoradi project, which would soon be inaugurated, is equipped with computers and accessories, photocopiers, scanning and binding machines and Internet facilities.
It is hoped that the facility would enhance the ability of shippers to participate in the global economy and exploit comparative cost advantage to expand their businesses, he said. Mr Gyamerah said the completion of the centres was in partial fulfilment of the Council's strategic objective to ensure that relevant shipping information became appropriate and efficiently packed and disseminated for the benefit of shippers.
