Involve private sector in the development of business policy - Nana Bonsu

A four-day advocacy training workshop to enhance the capacity of members of business associations has opened at Dodowa in the Dangbe West District.

The workshop is being organized by the Private Enterprise Foundation (PEF) with sponsorship by the BUSAC Fund is aimed at helping to improve the business environment and to promote the development of private businesses in the country.

Selected executive members of business executive associations in the country are attending the workshop.

Nana Osei Bonsu, Director General of PEF, called for full involvement of the private business sector in the formulation and implementation of business policies in the country.

He said the situation where public officers formulate business policies aimed at promoting private business with limited participation or total neglect of the private sector in the past had rather ended up hindering the success of the policy.

Mr Anthony Adu Baffour, a resource person from the Managing Department of GENAD consult, called for determined efforts to support the growth of Ghanaian private businesses in the various sectors of the economy so that there would be local business organizations that foreign investors could partner when they come to invest in the country.

He said if local businesses were not investing in some areas of the economy, foreign investors would not be encouraged to invest in those sectors too. **
