Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticized the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led administration for overseeing the current economic woes in the country.

Gyamfi asserted that the current administration's policies have led to the destruction of Ghana's economy to an extent that rectifying the damage would require an extraordinary effort.

"The state at which President Akufo-Addo and Bawumia destroyed our economy, if we are working an 8-hour shift, it will take 50 years to restore the economy back," he said on Accra-based UTV on May 3, 2024.

According to him, the country’s debt burden has skyrocketed, reaching unprecedented levels under President Akufo-Addo’s government.

He expressed grave concerns about Ghana's ability to secure further loans due to its precarious financial situation.

"Now, because of our debt, places that all countries borrow from have been told that we can't get loans anymore because we cannot pay our debt," he added.
