Former President John Dramani Mahama has outlined a clear strategy to curb rising food prices in the country if given the nod in the upcoming general elections.

According to him, these measures will be necessary to reduce the burden on Ghanaians, thereby enhancing price stability efforts.

In a post shared via Facebook, the flagbearer of the NDC believes that his approach will culminate in positive results for the economy.

“I am clear in my mind about what needs to be done to halt the daily increase in the price of food and other essential commodities, which is a result of the economic mismanagement by the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia government.

"We must halt the hardship on people, and go back to the days of price stability," John Mahama wrote.

Additionally, the NDC’s manifesto ahead of the 2024 general election highlights several key interventions aimed at resetting the economy and preparing it for growth.

Some of these interventions include scrapping six draconian taxes, reforming the unjust VAT system, applying the Price Stabilization and Recovery Levy on fuel, launching a special pension scheme, and rolling out a “Big Push” policy with a 10 billion cedi investment.

Ghanaians will soon head to the polls to elect a new president and members of parliament for the next four years.
