The timeless culinary debate in West Africa, the “Jolloff Wars” has reached new temperatures with the launch of Tasty Tom Jollof Mix.

The new recipe, by Nutifoods Ghana, combines Tasty Tom tomato paste, a primary ingredient in most traditional Ghanaian meals with traditional Jolloff ingredients and can be prepared in just ‘four easy steps’ to achieve the distinct flavour and colour, that has made the rice dish a household favourite.

Speaking at the launch ceremony at Accra’s Fiesta Royale Hotel, Ms. Ewuresi Krampa, Brand Manager of Tasty Tom said: “There’s no doubt that Jollof is very popular among Ghanaians; we have observed however that preparing the meal in the traditional way can be so time consuming and stressful. The result is that Jollof is not cooked as many times as people would really desire. It is for this reason that we have introduced Tasty Tom Jollof Mix on the Ghanaian market.”

Mr. Amitav Basak, Head of Business at Nutrifoods Ghana added: “We are pleased to introduce to our loyal customers a new culinary aid that makes the cooking of this great meal (Jollof) so easy and convenient. Like Tasty Tom itself, the Jollof mix is also enriched with vitamins A. D. E. and K.”

The launch was accompanied with the announcement of Nana Ama Mcbrown, one of Ghana’s most celebrated actresses, as the Brand Ambassador for Tasty Tom Jollof Mix. The film star spoke of her personal enjoyment from trying out the new product and thanked Nutrifoods Ghana for their many years of dedicated service to Ghanaian families.

The event also featured cooking demonstrations on how best to use Tasty Tom Jollof Mix, after which guests, who included trade partners, sampled the freshly cooked rice dish.

Mr. Jay Anjaria, General Manager of Olam’s Packaged Food Business commented on Nutrifoods’ growing range of products: “For over 20 years, Olam Ghana has committed to producing the very best food products for our Ghanaian customers; Now with the addition of the new Tasty Tom Jollof Mix, we are well placed to maintain our position as one of the most trusted food brands in the country,”

Nutrifoods Ghana Limited is a joint venture with Sanyo Foods of Japan and is an FSSC (Food Safety System Certification Scheme) accredited plant and the first food manufacturing facility in West Africa to earn international recognition in food safety standards.
