Kasapa Goes to Kumasi

KASAPA TELECOM Limited, cellular phone operator in Ghana has spread its wings to Kumasi with a launch of its services in the Ashanti region.

The Managing Director of Kasapa, Mr. Robert N. Palitz assured its customers that the primary aim of Kasapa is to make telecom services more affordable and more available to the average Ghanaian.

He further pledged that Kasapa would lower prices whenever it found a way to lower its cost.

Palitz noted that more Ghanaians needed the opportunity to make and receive phone calls at prizes that allowed them to do so without undue financial stress.

Kasapa, he said, is not the kind of company that would spend billions of cedis advertising and publicizing products it is not even capable of offering yet.

According to the Kasapa MD, the last thing Ghana needs is over ambitious expansion and expensive and unreliable services." It will be ridiculous to put in efforts only to create a nation of 'flashers'."

Kasapa, he said, had a clientele of about 50,000 customers in the country as at September.

According to Palitz, Kasapa charges no fee for activation and starter pack, adding hat there is nothing like monthly fees.

Launching the Kasapa service, the minister for Communications, Mr. Kan Dapaah described Kasapa's products as user and customer friendly.

Dapaah announced that the government would soon set up the Ghana Investment Fund for Telecommunications (GIFTEL) to facilitate partial investment funding to companies and entrepreneurs to implement telecom extension to the rural and under served urban areas.

He commended Kasapa's rapid deployment of their services to the hinterland to promote efficient use of ICT in multi purpose community telecentres and media centres.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Sampson Kwaku Boafo observed that no society could progress without an efficient and effective means of communication and expressed the hope that Kasapa would engage in a healthy competition to ensure quality communication services for the benefit of users and customers in the region.

Nana Asampong Boakye, Asamponghene of Kumasi represented the Asantehene, Otumfuio Osei Tutu II at the Kasapa launch last Friday.
