Kenya has vowed to deepen its relations with Ghana by expanding cooperation into key sectors such as trade and investment, agriculture, mining, tourism, and oil and gas.
According to President William Ruto, the goal is to create broader opportunities for citizens of both countries and foster shared prosperity.
This commitment was reiterated during a meeting hosted by Kenyan officials for Ghana’s President-elect, John Dramani Mahama.
Discussions focused on enhancing intra-African trade, especially under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which aims to boost economic integration across the continent.
Kenyan leaders also thanked President-elect Mahama for endorsing Hon. Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union Commission chairperson position.
This collaboration signifies a strengthening of ties between the two nations on matters of mutual interest, both regionally and internationally.
President-elect Mahama, in return, invited Kenyan leaders to his swearing-in ceremony on January 7, 2025, in Accra, Ghana. The event is expected to highlight the growing partnership between the two countries.
The meeting took place in Kilgoris, Narok County, with Raila Odinga joining the discussions.
The leaders emphasised their shared commitment to advancing development and prosperity within Africa through strategic partnerships and enhanced cooperation.
