Nii Adjei Tawiah, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly, has commended traders at the Adabraka Market for adhering to all directives to ensure their safety against COVID-19.

He said: “We appreciate your level of commitment towards adhering to all the measures put in place by the World Health Organisation and the Government of Ghana to stop the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Nii Tawiah made this observation when he paid a working visit to the Market to observe activities pertaining to the social distancing protocols and wearing of face masks among others.

“We were here some few weeks ago to embark on an exercise to put you in groups, and to our amusement, you have complied with all the directives put forth,” he said.

The traders were adhering to the social distancing directive and wearing their masks when the team got there, with their Veronica buckets and soaps at vantage points throughout the market.

“Using a face mask is not an easy thing to do but we are entreating you to cultivate the habit as that is the sure way to preventing the contracting and spread of the COVID-19, if in case you are exposed to the virus.”

Nii Tawiah encouraged the market leaders and traders not to relent in their efforts towards self-protection and adhering to the health protocols while assuring them of the Assembly’s continuous support.

He urged them not to only concentrate on the monies they might be losing, but bear in mind that their lives were paramount to the country and so should continue to adhere to all the directives.

Hajia Asia Awudu, Vice President of the Traders Association, commended the Assembly for its support since the pandemic broke and gave the assurance that the traders would continue to operate under the best conditions to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.

She, however, appealed to the Assembly to provide them with more personal protective equipment to enhance their operations at the market.
