Kumasi Compost Plant set for operation; 500 people to be employed

The Kumasi Compost and Recycling Plant is set to begin operations by the end of the year and is poised to employ about 500 people into the factory.

Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyapong made this known when he addressed leaders and staff of the company at the annual Jospong Leadership Conference 2019.

According to him, his company remains committed to fighting waste challenges in the country and through the establishment of the waste compost plants in Accra and Kumasi, the unending efforts to solving Ghana’s waste problems will be achieved.

Commending the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his enormous support to the Jospong Group of Companies, Dr. Siaw Agyapong narrated how he got the land for the site from the Asantehene.

“Let me also thank two distinguished personalities here, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for granting us and giving us a land; the Kumasi Compost Plant land. I humbly have to announce to this august house that when it came three years ago that we were looking for a land for the compost plant, I went to Nana that Nana we need a land here. We have one of the compost and recycling plant in Accra, we need one in Kumasi and through his able leadership we got the land at no cost. By God’s grace this year the plant will be in session and it would be recruited, about 500 people are going to start working”, he said.

Reiterating his commitment to fighting waste challenges in the country, Dr. Siaw Agyapong said his company will continue to support President Akufo-Addo’s government and ensure that the President’s vision of making Accra the cleanest city in West Africa be achieved.

Moreover, he said the compost plant in Kumasi which will soon start operations will help bridge the unemployment gap in the country and therefore called on all and sundry to support the initiative.

The Jospong Leadership Conference under the theme “Transform to better perform” is an annual leadership development conference held for leaders and potential leaders within the Group to interact and share experiences with entrepreneurs, professionals and mentors.
