LESDEP To Introduce New Job Creation Modules To Augment Existing Ones

The National Co-ordinator of the Local Enterprises and Skills Development, LESDEP, Mr Adam Gariba, has said new innovative job creation modules would be introduced to augment the existing ones and thereby attract more people.

He said LESDEP has repositioned itself as the pathway to an exciting, new era of business development and entrepreneurship.

The LESDEP programme is a public-private partnership under the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and aims at creating local enterprises that would drive the creation of jobs and the economic growth of the country.

Since its inception as a company, the programme has trained and helped establish some 68,000 beneficiaries across the country.

At a media forum in Accra, Mr Gariba said LESDEP was open to assist anyone who wanted to acquire the necessary technical and entrepreneurial skills.

The skills acquired by the people trained under the programme, he said, were to help them establish their own businesses or improve on the performance of their enterprises.

Mr Gariba expressed his gratitude to the media for the support, criticisms and encouragement in making LESDEP a huge success adding that LESDEP appreciated the watch dog role of the media that enables institutions to improve on performance.

“Together we can change the course of the world and make a difference,” he said, and called on the media to be part of the evolution.

Mr Ransford Tetteh, President of the Ghana Journalists Association, lauded initiative and called for continued support of the programme to enable it assist many more people willing to take advantage to acquire and enhance their skills in various vocations.

Media personnel who had over the last two years worked with LESDEP in creating awareness about its programmes and activities were supported with some vital media accessories to enhance their work.
