Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah has urged Ghanaians to be proud of goods produced in the country and patronise them rather than always opting for foreign products.

Speaking at the media launch of the 22nd Ghana International Trade Fair in Accra, he said the attitudes of most Ghanaians towards locally manufactured goods demoralise producers who are forced to source their products to foreign countries.

He said, “we produce goods here in Ghana and we tickle ourselves if anybody goes in for that goods… when that happens the person who is indulging in the production will not have the faith or the confidence to introduce the product as a made in Ghana product, that has to stop”.

The Deputy Minister added that government is putting in place measures to transform the marketing of locally manufactured goods.

“As part of our activities to promote the indulgence of made in Ghana goods, we intend to improve the retail infrastructure of goods sold in Ghana.”

Mr Ahenkorah urged Ghanaians to patronise made in Ghana products as most of them are better than the foreign manufactured products Ghanaians enjoy so much.

The Deputy Minister who launched the 22nd Ghana International Trade Fair noted that the fair will play a very important role in promoting Ghanaian products as it will provide a great avenue for sellers to find buyers.

He said this will help manufacturers raise the needed money to go into the next cycle of production.

The 22nd Ghana International Trade Fair will be held at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre from the 28th of February to the 7th of March 2018 under the theme “Industrialising Ghana, Creating Jobs”.
