Let’s do more for Ghana – Chairman Yu tells Jospong Group

Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese Peoples Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), H. E. Yu Zhengshen has challenged the Jospong Group of Companies to continue exploring other sectors of the Ghanaian economy that will help improve on the lives of the citizenry.

“You can focus on a number of industries and other business ventures that will continue to advance the socio-economic development of the people”, he noted.

Chairman Yu was addressing officials of the company during his visit to the assembling plant facility of the Jospong Group of Companies in Accra, Tuesday, prior to his departure to his home country, China.

The leader of the CPPCC was in Ghana for a four-day State visit to deepen bilateral and cultural ties between China and the West African nation.

His visit was to also afford him gain first-hand information about the numerous Chinese investments in Ghana and how they are impacting positively on the Ghanaian society.

The Politburo Standing Committee Member commenting further said Chinese is committed to helping Ghana and the rest of the African continent develop and therefore would always strive to ensure that Jospong gets the needed support to expand into other areas of the Ghanaian economy.

The Jospong Group, as one local share holding group covers14 different industrial sectors including Agriculture, Sanitation and Waste Management, Banking, and Commercial Vehicle Assembling Plant.

Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyapong, in a sharp remarks said the Group is always looking at avenues in the Ghanaian economy where its presence would impact positively on the lives of the citizenry.

He said currently the Group operates savings bank, Union Saving Bank, which has large scale network and customers, especially, in the SME sector but noted that the challenge has been funds to advance to players in that category to grow their business.

He was however, hopeful that the Group would partner with Chinese banks to develop the banking business, especially, the SME loan sector.

The Group, he added, is also expecting to work together with top level Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturers to fully utilize the advantage of freezone favoured policies to assemble commercial vehicle and develop the whole of West Africa market.
