Limited gas supply challenge causing intermittent power cuts – GRIDCo, ECG announce

The Ghana Grid Company Limited and the Electricity Company of Ghana, in a joint statement, have stated that recent interruptions in power supply to some areas across the country are a result of challenges in gas supply for the generation of power.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, the state power generation company and distributor said the situation is due to “a challenge at the Ghana National Gas Limited Company (GNGC) Gas Processing Plant (GPP) at Atuabo. Gas supply for power generation has been limited, which has caused some customers to experience intermittent interruptions in power supply.”

While apologising to customers for the situation, the statement assured that “engineers are currently working to address the issue and restore full supply of gas.”

“GRIDCo and ECG will continue to monitor the situation, which is expected to normalise once the issue at the plant is addressed,” the statement added.
