Event Director of Ghana Manufacturing Awards, Richard Abbey, has established that Ghanaian companies have succeeded in revamping the country’s industrial spirit during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to him, the vast production of hand sanitizers, face mask and other medical supplies is a clear indication that the country is capable of manufacturing everything possible.

In an interview with GhanaWeb, on the side-lines of this year’s Ghana Manufacturing Awards, Mr Abbey said this initiative will go a long way to grow Ghanaian industries, create jobs and more income in the country.

“In this space of time, manufacturing companies have excelled because we have people producing mask in large quantities, sanitizers in other to meet the market. This shows that we need to engineer a lot of things in this county because had it not been for COVID, we didn’t know we were innovative in producing sanitizers other than bringing some other brands from outside,” he stated

He also praised government for its commitment towards supporting the growth of local industries, that is, its decision to order the local production of PPEs to support growing demands.

“We would like to thank government that it added some response to these companies and the task cards it has given,” he added.

The annual Ghana Manufacturing Awards, according Richard Abbey, aims at celebrating individuals and companies who are excelling in the manufacturing sector in the country.
