Lybia To Buy $200m Food From Ghana

Negotiations are currently underway in Tripoli between Ghana and Libya for the host nation to buy between $100 and $200m of agricultural produce from Ghana based, of course, on Ghana’s ability to satisfy Libya’s demand.

Showing a commitment to ensure this trade agreement, the Libyan government is supporting Ghana’s agro-based Industry with $25 million grant facility. The money will be channeled through Libya’s central bank to the BoG and will be accessed by the private sector involved in commercial farming.

On-going investigations by the paper however revealed that the Libyans were upset that a similar but larger facility of $100m extended to the NDC was apparently misapplied, nipping the long-term multi-million dollar annual bilateral trade in the bud at the time.
