MTN-Ghana, on Thursday donated GH¢ 560,000 and GH¢ 1,400 worth of airtime and assorted drinks towards the Kwahu Easter festivites.
The money was distributed to some communities and the Kwahu Traditional Council which was given GH¢ 2,000 and GH¢ 600 worth of airtime.
Mpraeso, Obo and Obemeng were each given GH¢ 1,200 and GH¢ 300 worth of airtime.
Presenting the items, Mrs Eleanor Adzaho Sarpong, Manager-Regulatory Affairs of the company, said MTN was alive to its commitment of supporting rich African tradition and culture.
She said the Kwahu Easter remained the biggest social gathering that attracted tourists both from within and outside the shores of Ghana.
“For us at MTN, building relationships is one of our values and we see this value reflected in the way our people reconnect with their families and friends they have not seen over a long period”, she asaid.
Mrs Sarpong commended the chiefs of Kwahu for promoting the development of their communities and appealed to all those who have not registered their SIM cards to do so.
The chiefs expressed their appreciation to the company for the donation. Nana Yeboah Afari Boagyan,Obohene appealed to all those who would come for the festivities, especially ladies, to dress decently.
“Indecent dressing is not the culture of the Kwahus and so it will not be allowed,” he said, adding that anyone who would be seen indecently dressed would be arrested and handed over to the police.**
