General Manager for MTN Mobile Money limited, Eli Hini has stated that the MTN Mobile money service is aiming to digitize merchant payment across the country especially the in informal sector.
This he said will add up to the many successes MTN Ghana have marked in the financial sector over the years.
According to him, this will further enable easy payment from MTN wallet rather than cash irrespective of how small the amount is.
“The first one in terms of way forward is the whole discussion around merchant payment. Digitizing Merchant payment, I’m sure most of you are able to pay for even shopping in Makola with mobile money that is where we want to go. Our women are embracing it and we are moving away from the formal merchant payment structure to the informal and that is the focus.” He said.
He also called on government and other stakeholder to provide a centeralised national identification system for easy tracking.
“… Ones we are able to have a centralized National Identification system it becomes easy to track people to understand who is bad. Today we have a fragmented system if you want to validate something toy need to go to one, if you can’t find it then you go to another. A centralized system which is able to support that is the national ID.”
Mr Hini called for an expansion on transaction limit on MTN wallet for customers to effectively enjoy the service and also grow their businesses.
