Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has once again criticised the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for refusing to answer the five questions he posed.

His comments come after Dr. Bawumia posed 150 questions to him and asked for a debate instead on the economy.

Reacting to this at a gathering in Savelugu on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, Mahama accused Bawumia of destroying the economy and urged him to address the issue to give Ghanaians some relief.

Mahama said, "I asked you five simple questions on the economy, that’s all! Simple questions that Ghanaians want you to answer. You respond with how many compost plants you built… that is not the issue in Ghana today."

"This election is about the economy, stupid. It is not about all those other useless things like who built more compost plants. Answer the five simple questions and you can’t hide under the debate. You don’t need the debate to answer the five questions," he added.

The NDC flagbearer said, "You have destroyed the economy, that is the truth. You were brought in to fix the economy. The economy is in a terrible state. Just answer the five questions I have asked you on behalf of the people of Ghana."

He asked Dr. Bawumia to explain to Ghanaians why the cedi keeps depreciating against major trading currencies, why inflationary pressure remains high, and why the country’s debt level keeps ballooning.

Mahama also said Dr. Bawumia needs to explain why the government borrowed GH¢42 billion from the Bank of Ghana and why he has "ditched" the economy to focus on digitalization.

These are the five questions the NDC flagbearer posed to Dr. Bawumia.
