MainOne Cable has pledged to deepen its footprint in the country’s broadband and internet market to support the growth of businesses.
“We want to expand the network to get more customers connected, deliver value added services, build cloud, and connectivity oasis services. We intend looking at the Ghanaian market to see where the opportunities are to replicate these services so that we can further enable corporate and enterprise businesses to grow,” Kazeem Oladepo, Business Executive for Ghana and West Africa told the B&FT.
Mr. Oladepo said this in Accra at the company’s fifth anniversary celebration of powering West Africa’s broadband and internet landscape.
Commenting on the company’s five-year operation, Mr Oladepo said, “It has been a very exciting journey so far. We wouldn’t have gotten here without the partners, the government, National Communication Authority and the people in general giving us the opportunity to deepen the broadband and internet penetration in Ghana. The hard work in competing against incumbents is not an easy work. We are really grateful for the opportunity to serve.”
According to him, MainOne’s achievements in the last five years are enormous adding that, “the fact that you can do all the things that you are doing today, the connectivity, the efficiency and speed that has been created with the use of e-commerce is part of our unique story and the value that we have brought to the market.”
He continued that, “we were also able to slash down existing market prices by not less than by 80 percent and bringing access closer which has enabled so many companies to remain in business and to contribute to the economy.”
He said infrastructure lapses remains one of the major hurdles in the sector. In spite of the challenges, the company has invested in fibre optic infrastructure in Tema which will aid its operations nationwide.
Going forward, the company says it looks forward to more collaborations with the government and other players in the market like internet service providers, municipalities and the people who enable a lot things in the sector to function.
He also disclosed that the company was working with its partners to extend its services to the hinterlands.
