Market dragged down by big GCB loss

Accra, June 27, GNA - A whopping loss by Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) on Monday dragged down the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), which saw one of its biggest one-day losses.

The GSE All-Share Index, the main market indicator, slumped by 225.16 points to end trading at 5,799.30 points from 6,024.46 points. The Change Year-To-Date was poorer at -14.70 per cent. GCB lost 3,400 cedis at 9,000 cedis while British American Tobacco was 500 cedis poorer at 4,000 cedis

Total shares that changed hands were down slightly at 72,900 shares from 74,000 during the previous trading. Market capitalisation ended lower at 94,375.74 billion cedis from 94,971.31 billion cedis on Friday.
