Market index takes another plunge

Accra, Jan. 9, GNA - Two heavy losses on the Ghana Stock Exchange on Monday saw the market index take another plunge to begin the week down by 18.25 points.

The All-Share Index opened the week down at 4,706.76 points from Friday's closing figure of 4,725.01 points.

The change in the year-to-date was -1.31 per cent with the market capitalisation closing at 91,692.46 billion cedis, down from 91,740.94 billion cedis.

Shares traded continued to be low but increased from 27,900 to 29,400 shares.

On the broader market, there were three price changes, one positive and two negative.

Accra Breweries Limited (ABL) lost 70 cedis at 1,230 cedis while Cal Bank (CAL) shed 200 cedis to finish the day at 1,800 cedis. Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited gained one cedi again at 7,753 cedis.
