MasterCard in Ghana

MasterCard International will be visiting Ghana to hold meetings with the management of banks that have applied to issue MasterCard credit and debit cards in Ghana. The delegation will be led by Mr. Eddie Grobler - Senior Vice President of MasterCard Southern Africa, and will also include Mr. Nivan Bijou, Manager of Business Development in Africa. The delegation will be in Accra on Tuesday 21st October.

There is no doubt that the entrance of MasterCard International into the Ghanaian economy will revolutionalise the e-commerce solutions in the Ghanaian economy and will enhance the launch of Ghana into the international electronic commerce market.

MasterCard credit and debit cards are the most accepted international cards in the world. The delegation will address amongst other subjects, risk and security and the operational readiness of the the banking sector in Ghana.

The ability of the banks to issue MasterCards locally will provide consumers and manufacturers alike, the opportunity to buy goods and services online, while manufacturers and other service providers will be able to set up shops on the internet, thereby enabling their products and to be bought by customers throughout the world.
