Ghana’s number 1 online real estate marketplace is turning 5 years old. Founded in 2013 by three young Ghanaian students, meqasa.com has emerged as a solution to the prevalent hassle of buying and selling real estate in Ghana.

Meqasa is the success story of a Ghanaian owned technology business that is rapidly making waves in the economy.

Its growth is an indication of how easily a well-run business can effectively contribute to the economy. With a fully Ghanaian workforce, meQasa.com is creating jobs not just from direct employment but also by making it easier for agents, developers and other real estate stakeholders to conduct their business.

“Our core business is connecting seekers and sellers. We are solving a problem that we’ve encountered in our own personal searches for property,” CEO of meqasa, Kelvin Nyame said in an interview.

“We realised very quickly how difficult it was to navigate the real estate space in Ghana without a structured marketplace to assist the process.” He added.

In the last five years, meqasa.com has grown in strength of numbers and reach, with over 30,000 quality listings currently available to seekers all over the world.

“We are the largest resource for quality real estate listings in the country right now”, Rashad Seini, co-founder of meqasa.com explained. The end user is very important to us so we’ve created a website that’s easy to navigate and understand.

Meqasa.com has achieved several milestones in the last five years including its acquisition of Jumia House in 2017 making it the largest marketplace for real estate. The website currently receives about 150,000 visits every month from property seekers.

This year, meqasa.com hosted its second housing fair, the meqasa Property Expo, an offline event that brought together the finest real estate developers, mortgage specialists and housing experts in the country to exhibit their properties, network and educate the public on taking informed decisions about real estate.

In line with the company’s efforts to create an environment that facilitates fast and convenient interactions between seekers and property owners or sellers, meqasa launched two mobile apps in June that allow users to conduct their business on the go. The apps which are available on the Google Play Store are known as the meqasa App and the meqasa Agent App.

As part of their five-year anniversary, meqasa.com is raising funds to purchase computers for Hope Christian Academy, a basic school in Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region. The school was established in 2003 to provide basic education to orphaned, needy and destitute children in the Village of Hope orphanage.

Meqasa is inviting the public to contribute to this cause by contributing as little as GH¢1 by mobile money to any of these numbers: 0246631440/0267150275. Every pesewa counts.
