Metso meets contractors in Takoradi

Metso Ghana, a leader in mining and construction equipment manufacturing and supplier of sustainable technology and services for mining and construction industries, has organised a one-day workshop for some road contractors in the Western Region.

Among the aims of the workshop was to enable the contractors to have first-hand information about Metso’s newly developed products for African markets that will help enhance their operations as contractors.

The occasion was also used to exhibit and launch some of the mining and construction equipment produced by Metso which included crushers, Feeders, Conveyors and Surge Hoppers.

Speaking at the programnme, Louis Santos, a manager of the company in charge of Europe, Middle East and Africa, noted that today’s mining and construction projects demand innovative solutions to meet the technological, quantity, quality and delivery requirements.

“Metso, the world-leader in crushing and screening technology, develops the products as you want it,” he told the contractors.

He mentioned for instance that Metso’s new Lokotrack 1000 series is a combination of ‘best-in-class’ product quality and engineering that conforms to challenging working conditions.

According to him, the Lokotrack 1000 series has three models which are the C1000 Jaw Crusher, the G1000 Cone Crusher, and the S1000 Screen, forming flexible cost-effective track solutions whether they stand alone or work in multi-stage crushing in mining, construction, or recycling.

He added that the company’s crushing and screening equipment has test-proven fuel economy combined with the industry’s most consistent production levels, thus maximising profitability.

Later, in an interview, Joseph Obrempong -- the Construction Sales Manager of Delta Ghana, a subsidiary of Mantrac Ghana Limited -- disclosed that Metso Ghana is dealing with the mining companies only while his outfit is handling the construction aspect of the business.

He indicated that Delta is the authorised dealer of Metso’s construction equipment, and that the target market is those in the Quarry industry in Ghana, supplying them with crushing and screening plants.

He stressed that Delta Ghana provides customers with comprehensive solutions backed by technical know-how, experience, and in-depth knowledge.

“Currently, we have about eight companies using Metso’s products. Delta has recently sold one crushing plant to a customer who is about to establish a quarry business near Elmina in the Central Region,” he added.

Mr. Obrempong named the new quarry site as G.N. Quarry and promised that the 3-stage crushing plant will be installed in Elmina by September this year.
