The Minister of Transport Kweku Ofori Asiamah has charged management of the safe bond terminal in Takoradi to endeavor to reduce the time of clearance of vehicles from the terminal by creating a one stop shop point for payment of duties.
This, according to him will relieve importers of the stress they would have to go through because they move outside the terminal to make some payments.
The Transport Minister said this when he visited the Takoradi Port as part of his maiden visit to the Western region.
He said even though the private sector is being encouraged by the government its operations should not be to the detriment of the importer.
“We trying to reduce time in doing business so it is not appropriate for customers to come in and go out to do assessment before they come again. We want to encourage the private sector to come in but at least we want it in such a way that the consumer is a little bit relieved in terms of time because time is crucial,” he said.
Management of the Safe Bond Terminal assured the Minister that plans are underway to bring all payment offices to the terminal so as to render timely and efficient service to the customers.
