Accra, Oct 2, GNA - Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Minister of Tourism and Modernization of the Capital city on Thursday said the Ministry would soon create a desktop publishing capacity as part of the tourism action plan to ensure availability of tourist information at all entry points to Ghana. He said the Ministry would in addition seek to improve the quality of images, develop brochures, pamphlets, websites, special tourist maps and posters of all sizes to conduct marketing campaigns of tourist sites.
Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra. He said the action plan would include encouraging the private and public sectors to participate in international exhibitions and organise promotional activities for the tourism industry. Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey said the Ministry would also develop a variety of travel packages including multi-centred destination tours of West Africa to network tour operators in the Sub-Region.
"The development of the website would include a Tourism Management Information System to ensure readily available data and analyses of the tourism industry". He said the website, to be sited at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science, and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi would include functionality. "It will allow web surfers and others who visit the site to engage in direct booking of accommodation, tours and other services through secure links that protect any information provided" he said.
