The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), has began a sensitisation programme to engage stakeholders and Farmer-Based Organisations (FBOs) on government’s ‘Planting For Food and Jobs’ policy.

The sensitisation is part of efforts by the Ministry to woo the public and hold broader consultations with stakeholders on how to achieve the objective of increasing food production and creating jobs for the teeming youth of this country.

The outreach will also give the Ministry the opportunity to tap ideas and address concerns of stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of the Program. The 3 Deputy Ministers of Food and Agriculture are expected to join the substantive minister to start the campaign from Monday, May 8 2017.

For the purposes of this campaign, the country has been divided into four zones with each Minister taking charge of one. Dr Sagri Babangi, will be responsible for the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions.

The Western and Central regions will be handled by George Boahen Oduro with William Agyapong taking charge of the Eastern and Volta regions. The Chief Director at the Ministry, Dr Gyiele Nurah will be responsible for the 3 Northern regions.

They will hold discussions with district agric directors and recognised farmers’ associations.
