MoFA receives donations towards Farmer’s Day celebrations

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has received donations from two more institutions towards this year’s farmer’s day celebrations.

The companies; Unibank Ghana Limited presented a cheque for GH¢50,000 while Rainbow Agro- Sciences Company Limited presented 30 cartons of assorted pesticides valued at GH¢8,000.

The Executive Director of Unibank, Mr Clifford Duke Mettle, presenting the cheque said the bank was a perpetual donor that believes in the use of agriculture to totally transform the country.

According to him, industrialisation of the country could only be achieved if the base of the agricultural sectors was solid enough to make inroads to other international markets to create employment for socio-economic development.

“It is about time to focus on agriculture transformation and industrialisation in order to make the sector more attractive to the youth to generate more employment,” he said.

Mr George Ocloo, the Technical Manager of Rainbow Agro-sciences expressed the company’s readiness to partner the ministry to recognise the effort of the country’s hardworking farmers and fisher folks.

He said the company was operating in 47 countries where they help farmers in best practices and safe use of agrochemicals.

The Deputy Minister , MoFA, Dr Sagre Bambangi commended the donors for the support and urged other organisers to get on board and help support government in its quest to celebrate the country’s hardworking farmers and fisher folks.

He said government has initiated policies for the sector to make it attractive to the youth as well as create job opportunities along the value chain for the people.
