Modelez International is celebrating 10 years of its Cocoa Life programme in Ghana which is aimed at improving the well-being of cocoa farmers in the country.

According to the Country Lead of the organisation, Yaa Peprah Amekudzi, Modelez International programme Cocoa Life also celebrates the increase of cocoa production in the country.

"It is important that we don't also wait for big things and celebrate, we even celebrate the fact that farmers double their yield," she said.

She added that through the Cocoa Life programme, cocoa farmers have contributed to build some social amenities in their communities.

Madam Yaa Peprah Amekudzi stated that women who were noted for assisting the men on the cocoa farms are now on the forefront when it comes to cocoa farming.

She noted that the narrative of describing cocoa farmers as just farmers has changed through the Cocoa Life programme the farmers describe themselves as businessmen and productive cocoa farmers.

Through the Cocoa Life programme, Modelez International has been able to engage the cocoa communities on women empowerment, child protection and community development. "Without the community engagement, you can't really say that you have delivered a cocoa programme," she noted.

Mondelez International is an American multinational confectionery, food, and beverage production company based in Illinois and has employed more than 83,000 people around the world.

Among its products are Cadbury chocolates, trident chewing gum, and Belvita.
