A former Northern Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mohammed Abdul-Salam, has been appointed as the Acting Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA).

This was announced in a letter by the Office of the President, dated Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

“His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana has in accordance with Article IPS (1) of the Constitution and section 45(1) of the National Lotto Act, 2006 (Act 7) appointed you as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Lottery Authority pending receipt of the Constitutionally required advice of the Board of the Authority, in consultation with the Public Services Commission,” it noted.

He takes over from the Member of Parliament of Akuapim North, Sammi Awuku, who announced his resignation from the role on January 13, 2025.

In a letter addressed to President John Dramani Mahama, Sammi Awuku cited his election as the Member of Parliament of Akuapem North as the reason for his resignation.

The new appointment of Mohammed Abdul-Salam takes effect from January 15, 2025.
