The former Editor of the Enquirer newspaper, Mr Raymond Archer, has said the Board Chairman of the Ghana International Trade Fair Company (GITFC), Mr Dan McKorley (McDan) lied when he said no equipment got destroyed when his [Raymond Archer] $10-million printing press was demolished.
GITFC last week razed Mr Archer’s Colour Planet Limited, as well as other properties on its land for redevelopment.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana programme on Tuesday, 18 February 2020, Mr McKorley, who is also the CEO of McDan Shipping Company Limited, said: “Maybe, the time looked a bit fishy, people might think we have something to hide”, but added: “Nothing of Raymond Archer’s got destroyed. I have asked him to show pictures that one machine got broken. Nothing got broken. I have gone there to inspect the place, I called for pictures and I saw everything.
“Only the roof got ripped off and one small portion of the building ripped off. The printing machines were all there – intact. Nothing got destroyed”, Mr McKorley insisted.
But speaking to Benjamin Akakpo on the Executive Breakfast Show (EBS) on Class91.3FM on Tuesday, 25 February 2020, Mr Archer quizzed: “How do you destroy a factory of that size, raze down the building, the roof, the concrete all falling on the machines and come and say the equipment is not destroyed?”
The veteran journalist continued: “I don’t get him, the media has been there, photos are there, videos are there of the destruction. The fact that even in the midst of all of these, he still is able to open his mouth and say ‘equipment have not been destroyed, the factory has been destroyed but the equipment has not been destroyed…’
“The day I heard that from him, I said we are up against something very unusual because I was there when they were demolishing the factory, the media was there the following day, evidence is there, I haven’t taken a pin since the demolishing, everything is still buried under the factory, yet he’s still able to come out and say the equipment is not destroyed…”
Asked by the host if Mcdan lied then, Mr Archer responded: “yes, big liar, big fat lie”.
