NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama has intimated that his major priority if given the nod to lead Ghana will be to stabilize the depreciating Cedi.
He believes that stabilizing the Cedi will help stabilize the country’s economy which has been plunged into economic mess.
In a post shared via X, the leader of the NDC affirmed that economic policy under him will be geared towards sustainable growth adding that it will come with equitable distribution of the growth proceeds.
“Sound and prudent economic management, founded on broad and far-reaching governance and economic reforms, will take root in Ghana under my leadership," he said.
"My priority will be to stabilise the economy and halt the deterioration in the Cedi’s value against other currencies. Economic policy will be geared towards sustainable growth, with an equitable distribution of the proceeds of that growth.”
Ghana’s currency is performing abysmally against major trading currencies. With the free fall, the rate of depreciation has affected the standard of living of the ordinary Ghanaian.
