So the IACG is trying to address that and we are addressing that by public education. By dismantling the technicalities of insurance for public consumption. Secondly we need to build trust and we can do that by opening up. We are opening up the bureau for complains where people can send messages when they are not happy about something”, he said.
The Deputy Commissioner of Insurance, Michael Andoh called for a healthy collaboration between his outfit and the public in dealing fake insurance companies and persons who poise as staff of insurance companies.
He assured that the public that the doors of the NIC remains committed to its mandate of solving insurance-related issues.
“Our duty is to make Ghanaians know that life comes with risk and whether you like it or not. Its not a choice but there’s something that can help you manage these risks. The industry players are undertaking these projects to sensitize Ghanaians on the best way to manage these risks. The IACG has in recent past undertaken a lot sensitization measures and projects to help Ghanaians appreciate the need for risk management. We all have to cooperate and make sure that we arrest the fake insurance people. Until we all cooperate we will not be able bring an end to this unfortunate practice”.
The campaign is being funded by the Programme for Sustainable Economic Development (PSED) of the German Development Agency (GIZ) in partnership with all the key players in the insurance industry in Ghana.
